A
final report has been published in full and in summary. A copy of
the summary has been delivered to every household in the parish
and both versions of the report can be viewed or downloaded by clicking
on the links in YOUR PRESTBURY - YOUR PLAN (see right). The report
has been formally submitted to Prestbury Parish Council for their
consideration.
Our purpose has been to find out what the residents
of the civil parish of Prestbury value most about living here, the
needs and challenges that we face and to find pragmatic ways to
address those issues in order to maintain Prestbury as a great place
to live (select MISSION tab to see our mission statement).
In October 2007 every household in the parish received our 10 page questionnaire asking for their views about living in Prestbury, what they like, current issues and concerns and what we should be doing now to preserve and enhance the future of our community (select NEWS ITEMS to view the questionnaire and the survey report). We were very pleased that 57% of all households completed the survey.
In February 2008, over 100 volunteers came together into 9 working groups (see WORK GROUPS tab for initial members and their objectives) to investigate further the most significant issues identified by the survey and to recommend what action should be taken to address them. Working with oversight from the Steering Committee, the working groups completed their reports and recommendations in November 2008. From these, the Steering Committee distilled the final Plan for Prestbury Report. We believe the recommendations are actions that are achievable in the relative near-term and which will meet the concerns and opportunities brought to light by our parish-wide survey.
Circulation of the final report to the community began at an evening reception in the Bridge Hotel on Monday March 2nd, where the Steering Committee were able meet up with the volunteers and personally thank them for all their hard work and commitment. The proposals have been presented to the Prestbury Parish Council for their endorsement. The Council have begun to discuss the proposals in detail and expect this process to take some time. They have indicated that they will give a progress report at the Annual Parish Meeting to be held on Tuesday 5th May.
